Colombia quote guide

A knee-replacement quote should make the implant and recovery pathway visible.

Compare the hospital episode, implant information, rehabilitation and travel timing separately. A single package total hides too much.

First: define what is actually being quoted

A joint-replacement proposal can look complete while leaving the implant, rehabilitation sessions or recommended time before travel vague. Those are separate questions from the headline surgical fee.

A fair comparison starts by writing the proposal as a specification instead of a marketing label. The purpose is not to decide which treatment is appropriate. That is a clinical question for the treating professionals. The purpose here is narrower: make sure the numbers you are comparing refer to the same work and the same bundle of services.

Questions to send back before you compare prices

  1. What implant is included in the quoted price?
  2. How many hospital nights are included?
  3. Which pre-op tests are part of the quote?
  4. How much physical therapy or rehabilitation is included?
  5. Are walking aids or postoperative imaging included?
  6. When does the treating team expect me to be assessed for travel?
  7. What follow-up is planned after I return home?

What the total-trip number adds

After the medical proposal is clear, add the travel layer separately: flights, accommodation, companion costs, local transportation, food, supplies and contingency money. Keeping the trip budget separate prevents a provider with a bundled hotel from looking more expensive than a provider whose accommodation cost simply appears later.

Use the whole-trip estimator once you have a working quote amount.

When you have two proposals

Do not reduce the comparison to “A is cheaper than B.” Put both documents against the same categories. If one proposal says nothing about an item, record that as not stated and ask. If the treatment plan itself differs, resolve that difference before treating the totals as competing prices.

Need another provider to respond to the same case?

Build a short reusable case file first. That makes it easier to give the second provider the same core facts rather than accidentally requesting a quote for a different version of the case.
