Rhinoplasty Quotes in Colombia: Why Primary Is $3,000 to $6,500 and Revision Is Not

Rhinoplasty is the procedure where the cheapest quote and the best quote can be from the same city and $3,500 apart, both honest. The difference is written in the technique line, if the quote has one.

Short version

Rhinoplasty has the widest honest price spread of any common procedure in Colombia. A closed, cosmetic-only primary on a straightforward nose is a 90-minute case. An open, functional-plus-cosmetic case with a septoplasty, spreader grafts, and ultrasonic bone work is three hours and a different skill. Both are "rhinoplasty" on a quote. Only one of them should cost $6,500.

What the primary quote should list

Line itemTypical 2026 range
Surgeon feeClosed cosmetic at the low end; open structural at the high end.$1,800 - $4,200
Technique statedOpen or closed. Ultrasonic (piezo) or conventional osteotomies. If the quote does not say, ask.n/a
Septoplasty or turbinate workFunctional component. Sometimes bundled, sometimes a separate line.$400 - $900
GraftsSeptal cartilage usually included. Ear or rib cartilage harvest is a separate line.$300 - $800
Operating roomAmbulatory clinic is acceptable for most primaries.$600 - $1,300
AnesthesiaGeneral for open cases. Some closed cases done under sedation.$450 - $900
Splint, taping, post-op visitsSplint off around day 7. At least three visits.$100 - $300
CT scan, if functionalOften required for septoplasty. Bring your own if you have one.$80 - $200

Total typical 2026 range: $3,000 to $6,500. The same case in the US typically runs $8,000 to $15,000 self-pay. In Colombia the gap between the low and high end is mostly surgeon seniority and technique, not facility, because most primaries are done in ambulatory clinics either way.

Open vs closed, and why the quote must say

Closed rhinoplasty works through incisions inside the nostrils. Faster, less swelling, and appropriate for hump reduction and modest tip work. Open rhinoplasty adds a small columella incision and lets the surgeon see and reshape the tip framework directly. Longer, more swelling, and the standard for significant tip changes, crooked noses, and almost every revision.

A quote that does not name the approach was built from a price list, not from your photos. A real rhinoplasty quote in Colombia comes after the surgeon has seen at least front, profile, and base views, and it names the approach because the approach sets the OR time.

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty: real, and a real line item

Piezoelectric instruments reshape nasal bones with less trauma than conventional osteotomes. Colombian surgeons adopted them early and many senior rhinoplasty specialists in Bogota and Medellin use them routinely. The instruments are expensive and the technique adds time, so ultrasonic cases typically quote $500 to $1,200 above conventional. That is a legitimate premium. It is also a marketing word, so ask whether the surgeon uses it for the bone work on every case or only when the quote says so.

The revision premium

Revision rhinoplasty is harder than primary. Scar tissue, missing cartilage, an unpredictable skin envelope. Typical revision quotes in Colombia run $4,500 to $9,500, a 40 to 80 percent premium over primary, and frequently include a rib cartilage harvest line ($800 to $1,500) because septal cartilage was used the first time.

Two things to expect. First, several excellent surgeons will decline your revision, especially if the primary was done elsewhere and they cannot get the operative notes. That is a sign of a surgeon who knows what they cannot fix. Second, a revision quote that comes back at primary prices, fast, without asking for op notes and photos of the current state, is a flag. The cheap revision is the expensive one.

Two specialties, two societies

In Colombia, rhinoplasty is done well by two groups: plastic surgeons (Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery, SCCP) and otolaryngologists with facial plastic training (Colombian Association of Otolaryngology). Both are legitimate paths. Both should appear in ReTHUS with the matching specialty. What you do not want is a general practitioner with an "aesthetic medicine" diploma quoting a rhinoplasty. ReTHUS shows the specialty. Check it.

Bogota vs Medellin for rhinoplasty

Bogota has a deeper bench of rhinoplasty specialists and functional nasal surgeons, partly because of its larger otolaryngology programs. Medellin has strong plastic surgery rhinoplasty and lower lodging costs. Bogota's altitude (2,640 m) is a consideration for the first two post-op days; Medellin's 1,500 m is gentler. Quotes are typically within 10 percent of each other. The comparison piece sends one case to both.

Trip math

Seven to nine nights is typical: surgery day 2, splint off day 7, fit-to-fly check day 8. The estimator defaults to eight. Flights plus lodging typically add $900 to $2,000 to the surgical number, which still lands most patients 45 to 60 percent under a US primary. Procedure context is on Colombia Cosmetic Surgery; the network hub is Colombia Medical.

Questions people ask

How much is a nose job in Colombia in 2026?

Primary rhinoplasty typically runs $3,000 to $6,500 at accredited Colombian clinics, versus $8,000 to $15,000 US self-pay. Revision runs $4,500 to $9,500. These are typical ranges, not quotes.

Why is revision rhinoplasty so much more expensive?

Scar tissue, depleted cartilage, and unpredictable skin make it a longer, harder case, often requiring rib cartilage harvest. Expect a 40 to 80 percent premium and expect some surgeons to decline.

Is ultrasonic rhinoplasty worth the extra cost?

For bone work it reduces trauma and bruising. The $500 to $1,200 premium is legitimate when the surgeon uses piezo instruments for the osteotomies. Ask whether it applies to your case.

Should I choose a plastic surgeon or an ENT for rhinoplasty in Colombia?

Both specialties produce excellent rhinoplasty. For functional problems (breathing, deviated septum), an otolaryngologist with facial plastic training is a natural fit. Verify the specialty in ReTHUS either way.

How long do I stay in Colombia after rhinoplasty?

Seven to nine nights. Splint removal is around day 7 and most surgeons want to see you once more before you fly.

Can I get a rhinoplasty quote from photos alone?

A preliminary range, yes. A real quote requires front, profile, and base photos at minimum, and a video consult for tip work or any revision.

Prices in this article are typical 2026 ranges observed across accredited Colombian clinics, not quotes. Colombia ranks #1 in the Western Hemisphere and #22 globally in the WHO World Health Report (2000); pair that with current JCI hospital accreditation and a ReTHUS check on any surgeon you consider. Nothing here is medical advice.
